Whirlwind life! Just an update.

So this past week has been crazy!!!

But the Lord has been merciful to us and it would seem everyone is still relatively sane....In fact, despite all odds, I have had a fantastic day so far!

We (the kids and I) started school a month ago and have since taken 2 weeks off--for the birth of my precious little nephew, Bentley and for other various reasons...but we started back this morning and it went smooth as butter!

Brandon is back in school, while working almost full-time. (Fully recovered from a near heat-stroke last week while on the job)

My grandmother, Inez Jennings, just found out that she has cancer. She had a small mass removed and will now be starting treatment as soon as she is fully recovered.

My grandfather, Noble Jennings, has heart-trouble and has been feeling not so well.

My sister, who just had her baby, has been having stomach trouble.

And my husband's uncle is about to face surgery next week.

Man, things are crazy...please keep us in your prayers!

Our areas of needed prayer at the moment are our beloved family members, who are facing health-trials, and our ever-present financial concerns.

Please pray for us that God would provide us with the financial means to survive seminary, and pray that we would be able to give comfort and support to those we love-despite our busy schedules and mountainous workloads.

I love all of you. Thanks for letting me share my life, and my heart, with you.

The Death of P.B.

Today, we lost our beloved "pink blanket".

"Pink blanket" has been with us for over 4 years now. And today, I killed it.

I did something dumb and left a casserole dish on the stovetop. I then turned on an eye thinking I was going to boil some bottles.

Well, I guess I turned on the wrong one, because 5 minutes later we all hit the deck when we heard what sounded like a gunshot in the kitchen.

Glass everywhere.

And as I looked around at my glass covered kitchen, I saw it. "Pink blanket."

Lying there, covered in molten glass and biscuit. So. Sad.

I cried and sucked my thumb for thirty minutes before I could
compose myself enough to tell Graysen, my daughter.

If your kids have blankets, you know, it is not just a blanket.

As my husband sensitively put it, "It's like you killed the family pet."

Thanks.

But I told her. We cried. We said our goodbyes. We ceremon
iously put it in the trash can. Then we immediately looked online to find a new "Pink Blanket".

After we had found one, Graysen looked at me and said, "Mom, I need three things to make me feel better...First, I need to talk about what happened. Then, I need a new pink blanket. And then, I need hot tea."

The girl grieves the same way I do: Talk/process, shop, drink warm beverage...repeat process until warm and fuzzy.

We're picking up the car from dad over his lunch break. I'm taking the girl shopping.

We'll probably stop by Starbucks on the way home...for her sake.

Goodbye, beloved P.B. You served us well.

Homemade Baby Food

I am making homemade baby food today...woohoo!

My pup hasn't actually eaten any of it yet, so that will be the true test, but it is so much healthier and CHEAPER!

If you haven't tried it and you're interested, try it! It is so easy!

But anyway, I am using my blender, because I don't actually have a food processor. :( (Donations are welcome!)

Anyway, Graysen is pretending to make her own baby food in the room next to me.

So cute!

But midway through me pouring some pureed carrots into an ice cube tray, Graysen comes to me and says(very snobbishly),

"Mommy, you should really try the 'Baby Bullet'. It works so much better. My baby food tastes so much more yummy."

?

How are you in-the-know about homemade baby food?!

And... uh, Graysen...What's a Baby Bullet? Are they expensive?

*This is my first time making homemade baby food, but if your interested and would like some info, inbox me or shoot me a message! :)

A yummo recipe for you!

Sorry it has been a while. Life with three chirrin is crazy...but I figure I have time to share a good recipe with you!

Strawberry Bread

2 C fresh or fro'zen strawberries
3 1/8 C all-purpose flour
2 C white sugar
1 T cinnamon
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 1/4 C oil
4 eggs, beaten like step-chirrin
1 1/4 C chopped pecans

Okay, so chop your strawberries and sprinkle them with sugar. Mmmm.
Mix your dry ingredients. Add oil and eggs to strawberries. Pour strawberry mixture into dry mix. Mix in pecans and divide into two bread pans ( or mini pans) and cook at 350* for 40 minutes...uncovered. Then covered for 10 minutes...check earlier on mini pans...they may get done sooner. Stick a toothpick in to check. when it comes out clean, it's ready to be eaten...

This recipe is great for breakfast, sprinkled with a little powdered sugar or a dollop of cool whip.

Or it can be used for a great summer dessert with a big scoop of ice cream.

Another plus is that it is extremely hard to flop this bread! :)

Enjoy!
